I'm feeling emo! Everyone's headed elsewhere for a holiday this weekend; there isn't much people left in Copenhagen, save for those who have an exam on Monday, just like me.

And it is my last week in Copenhagen; next week I leave for Italy, and 12 days later I'll come back for 1.5 days to grab my stuff before leaving for good. Time really flies! Don't think I'll even have time to bade everyone goodbye, due to differing schedules... Feels really sad!!! I'm gonna miss everyone here and miss everything here! All the friends that I've came to know here... feels so sad to think that I probably won't be seeing them for many years to come! =(

Ok back to studying!

Haha I'm just being bo-liao now... we were watching these videos last night...

Remember during my first week in Copenhagen, I went to the Royal'icious Party held at Nexus? Nexus is the bar in my school and every Thursday (and I think Friday too) night, my school turns into a club! And I think that is darn cool!!

To give you a feel, this is how it looks like in the day; it is the building where I have all my classes:

And this is the same place on Thursday nights:

And this video was the final party at Nexus for this semester, and we missed it cause we were at Norway! OMG it looked damn good!! Sigh!

I had a really good day today!

In the morning, I went for a Copenhagen bike tour. One of the major transportation methods here is by bicycle, so of course we had to try it! Met some friends at Kongens Nytorv, and we grabbed a free city bike and started pedalling. We cycled to almost all the major tourist attractions and took photos, with our bikes as props!

Det Kongelige Teater

In the evening, we had a Danish dinner party at Peder Skrams.

Little Danish flags, Danish napkins, red sausage, bacon, herring in a jar, shrimp, remoulade, mustard, ketchup, raw onions, fried onions, grated carrot, pickles, rye bread, white bread, lettuce, cucumber, pear cider & Carlsberg.

Made our own pølser med det hele & smørrebrød - yummy!!!

While waiting for dinner to digest, we cam whored with Annie's macbook.

And finally to top it off, we had dessert - chocolate cake from Lagkagehuset!! But not before singing a Happy Danish 4-month Anniversary to ourselves!

Spent the rest of the evening lazing in Jenia's room (it was so cooling and cosy!), watching emo videos and then crappy videos... Haha it was a hyggelig night!

I have one more exam next Monday, the last one before I'm officially done, and as usual, I'm supposed to study, but here I am blogging. Haha! And I have lined up my whole week with activities, and only allocated 2 days to studying, and I am dead! There're so many things on my mind right now, it's stressing me out! I need to settle:

1. Italy's accommodation
2. Italy's travel details
3. Transportation and accommodation for Epic trip (oh this is the name we've given to our after sem trip cause we're doing 11 cities in 8 countries in 1 month!)
4. Epic trip details
5. Buy souvenirs (and foodstuff) in Denmark
6. Pack my suitcase
7. Send my bank information to the school
8. Prepare for housing inspection
9. Activate autoroam
10. Laundry
11. Sell textbooks
12. Say goodbyes

Argh! Ok everytime I make a list, it nevers grows shorter, probably that's why the word is 'grow'.

Last Sunday, the day after LEGOLAND, a small group of us headed to a beach. We wanted to go to the one at Hornbæk, but it was kinda far, so we settled for Amager Strand. It was SO SUNNY in the morning, but when we got there in the afternoon, it became cloudy, and it was pretty cold!! The beach wasn't that great (I'm sure the Hornbæk one will be so much better!!) but the company was wonderful! We played many stupid beach games, went for hotdogs and ice cream, before going home.

On Monday evening, we invited Kelvin and his girlfriend, Cheryl, over for dinner. Made yummy herbal chicken soup, and other Chinese stir-fry. Kelvin made some mushrooms with garlic, ham and cheese, and that tasted so good too! Prior to dinner, Vivian and I went grocery shopping. As we are now not on the monthly transport pass, we grabbed a free city bike and decided to ride to the supermarket instead. That was a stupid idea! Haha! The city bikes are so tall (we managed to adjust it in the end), and there are no brakes (you've got to backpedal to brake) and we've got to cycle with the cars on the main road. It's kinda scary cause it's a left hand drive over here, and whilst we're used to crossing the road already, we're not used to 'driving' on the roads yet!

Last evening, we decided to have a small gathering with our HK friends at Valby. Valby looked so different from winter time! To think that I was supposed to stay there but switched to Peder Skrams!! Ahahaha my friends were telling me, if I had stayed on, I'd have nice good HK food every dinner!

Again, it was also to introduce Cheryl to our HK friends. We had a huge feast that was SO GOOD!! Team HK made mushrooms, 3-layered pork stew, some other yummy pork dish with onions, curry chicken, vegetables & mashed potatoes. Vivian & I contributed herbal bak kut teh.

Kelvin & Cheryl made apple custard which was pretty good too!

I tried making potato gratin, which was half successful! Gosh! So paiseh! It wasn't even that tasty and everyone said it was so good! So 给面子!!!

And the best of all, Winter's dessert!!! She always has some really great dessert, and this time, it is osmanthus and coconut jelly! It was heavenly!!! =D

On Friday, I had my exam, the oral exam I was talking about... I was so nervous, because I felt I didn't prepare that well, and I only had less than a day to study for that.

The guy who was in front of me was so annoying! It was obvious that he was extremely nervous. And either he didn't pay attention in class, or he didn't even attend classes; he kept asking me a zillion stupid questions about how the exam was going to be like! He should have checked out such info way before and not 10min before the exam! And he kept asking me other annoying questions... He was using the old version of the textbook, and he realised it didn't contain some cases which we might need for the exam, and he wanted to borrow mine! This guy is crazy! My timeslot was immediately after his and I need my textbook as well! He's such an idiot!

Anyhow, when it was my turn, I was glad that I picked a manageable topic! We had to enter a room and draw a question, so it was by luck! And after that, we go into another room where we had 20min to prepare, before going to see the examiner and the censor. During my exam, I kept talking, and I really liked my teacher. She's the nicest out of all the tutors I have this semester! Her classes are interesting and insightful, and it's the only one I feel that is worth going! My exam was like a chit chat session, and she had to cut me off because time was running out.

And I got a 12!!!!!!!!!!!! YAY!!!!!!!!!!!! I was SO HAPPY!!!!!!!!!!!! She said, "We have decided to give you a 12. You did very well in answering your questions. It is obvious that you have studied. Not only were you able to answer the questions, you are able to apply them in real life situations as well and that is very important and very good. Have a good summer!"

It was so unexpected!!! I didn't expect to do badly, but I didn't expect to do so well either - 12 is the highest possible grade!! I'm so lucky!!! =D

So that evening after dinner, Jenia, Annie, Yiwen, Vivien, Rachel, Charmaine and I headed to Nyhavn for drinks. We were holding our alcohol (I got a 6-pack beer - true blue Danish style!) and went to sit by the harbour, eating en pølse med det hele! Haha that means "one sausage with everything!"

Well it got too cold a while later, so we headed back to Peders to continue our pre-party drinking at Peders kitchen. At around 11pm, we set off for Vega, one of the great clubs in Copenhagen!

There were 2 levels, we went to the top one, and the music there was kinda cool! It was 1950s jive and jazz, and there were so many couples dancing and they were GOOD!!!

The next day, we headed to LEGOLAND Billund!! Billund is a town located in the centre of the Jutland Peninsula, in Region Syddanmark (Region South Denmark).

The bus ride to Billund took around 3 hours, and upon arrival, the sales manager of LEGOLAND Hotel gave us a presentation. It was kinda interesting, especially to us business students... they talked about strategy and marketing etc... but it was kinda too long... haha! We had little LEGO bricks as souvenirs!

Apparently, LEGOLAND is no longer owned by LEGO! It was bought over by Merlin Entertainments Group (2nd largest theme park operator in the world; the 1st is, as anyone can guess, Disney) when LEGO ran into financial problems some years back. LEGO however, still retains a small stake in LEGOLAND to ensure that the focus is still on LEGO. Anyway, a little more background, LEGO means "play well" and one of the focuses of the theme park was to foster learning.

It was so exciting to visit a theme park where almost everything is made with LEGO! I grew up playing LEGO and this was just so cool!!! First, we went to Miniland. This was where LEGOLAND all started; world's famous buildings and places were built in minature form with LEGO! It reminds me of the Miniatur Wunderland in Hamburg! Some of the LEGO toys can even move!!

Japan

Buddha

Amalienborg Palace

Holland

Bergen

Stave church (we missed seeing this in Norway!)

Nyhavn

Little Mermaid!! This one is even smaller!!! HAHA!

Neuschwanstein Castle along the Romantic Road in Germany

Even traffic signs were made with LEGO

H.C. Andersen (PS. The train behind is made with LEGO too! And notice the dustbin!)

Had en pølse med det hele for lunch!

Statue of Liberty

The White House

Thailand (Look at the little boat!)

Egypt

There is a LEGO Safari with 'animals'...

After Miniland, we went to LEGO shop to buy souvenirs... It's NOT CHEAP!!! Still so expensive!!! But it was really interesting to see the LEGO toys now... It's so different from 12 years ago. Now they have Indiana Jones, Pirates, Knights, Starwars, Bionicle etc... and of course, many other merchandises as well. We can buy a LEGO keychain or a lunchbox and have our names engraved... but I felt that it wasn't necessary for me... haha! Like duh!

We continued into the other areas such as Pirate Land, Knights' Kingdom, Adventure Land, Viking's River Splash, LEGO® City etc... And of course, we tried the rides! Well, LEGOLAND's target customers range between 2-12 years old. So the rides are supposed to be very exciting for them, but for us... hahaha... I felt it was kinda too mild...

There were also places such as a LEGO fire station, where children can drive LEGO fire engine to put out a fire. We didn't do that because it's so 'bully-ish' to compete with little kids! There is also a Pirate Lagoon where children can board a LEGO ship. The ship is on real water! And it moves! And the children on it will spray water at people from other ships, to attack them. People on land can also attack the ships by spraying water at them! I tried that and my jeans got wet! Haha! It was fun!!

Finally, it was time to leave... overall, I feet that LEGOLAND is really a theme park for families with little kids. Children will really enjoy the rides over there! Good news is, they are building a LEGOLAND in Malaysia, and I heard that it will be in JB!!! Haha next time can bring my little nieces and nephews there to play!!! Had a really enjoyable day!! =)

Ok I'm back! Haha... studying is so boring!

Honestly I'm scared about tomorrow's exam; it's an oral exam. Vivian took it today, he did pretty well despite having difficult questions (like duh!). Kelvin did VERY well and he was pretty lucky as well. But from what Vivian described, it's rather hard to score this time round! Looks like I gotta keep my fingers crossed!

Ok overwhelmed. Been thinking about my university life. It seems like I've been too happy-go-lucky and take-it-easy, without any sense of urgency for my future. And it's probably too late to change anything now, although never too late to start something.

3 years of tertiary isn't that long. Taking a glance back, I realised that my grades have been slipping. What am I doing man? Where's that drive? I probably got to start thinking what do I really want to do in the future, make serious considerations about my career path, whether is it the usual audit, or tax, or consulting (assuming I can even get in in the first place!), or finance, or investment banking (another tough one)...

I can probably strike out a few of those options now, considering that I'm nowhere near a first class standard. Looking at my portfolio, my tertiary life has been pretty 'normal', to the extent that it gets lost in the crowd. There's nothing special; no significant leadership positions, no large scale community service involvement, no consistent record of related internships, no involvement in useful academic societies such as Investment Club or Business Solutions or Entrepreneurial Society. There’s nothing impressive in my resume!

Now that I’m going into year 3, it’s probably too late already. I’ve got to start applying for jobs soon and whatever that is now there, will be it. And I’m probably already at a disadvantage, compared to others who have it all. That’s just the harsh reality of the business world!

At least I’ve got an exchange programme to include, but I realised that by coming for this exchange, I’ve given up the chance of doing a really good internship (assuming that I’ll be selected of course, which may again be unlikely). The December period isn’t the typical PA period for NTU students and the bulk of the openings (including those really great ones) come in the May/June period… Not that my PA was entirely horrible, but if I had the choice and the opportunity, I might probably be doing something else, maybe?

Take for example Kelvin, he hasn’t done his PA yet, and guess what? He’s got an internship in the States this coming June!! The company is flying him there for 8 or 10 weeks! OMG!! It’s going to be such a great learning experience and maybe a really enjoyable one too!!

And I’ve heard from a friend, that his friend is currently doing a finance internship at Barclays, with a monthly internship allowance of $4,000!!! Can you imagine that!!! I was earning a miserable $700!!! Or was it $750? I can’t remember. It doesn’t make a difference anyway when you compare it with $4,000 – that’s higher than the starting pay of typical finance graduates!!! And that’s only a finance position internship!!! An internship in the global markets department will fetch an allowance of $8,000!!!

Well so life’s about making choices and sacrifices, and haha I can’t really complain since I’ve made mine by coming here (and enjoying it too)! But I still can’t help thinking, so while I’m here - as WB said many times - “gallivanting in Europe”, spending like $20,000, and maybe more, other people back at home are earning so much money, setting me back by so much!!!

So I really need to consider what I really want to do, and take my life in control when I get back. This sucks! But you’ve gotta do it means you’ve gotta do it.

Perhaps I should considering taking English speaking classes and taking up another language… Yeah it sounds weird; Singaporeans’ English is of pretty high standard already, but still, I think there’s more room for improvement!!

I'm suddenly overwhelmed by the amount of things I got to do.

This week has been exam week, SIHRM exam on Monday went by and Organising Global Business & Markets exam was done today. I thought I didn't do very well for SIHRM; did not put in a lot of theories and examples and I had no idea what I was writing, but the others thought it went really alright... gosh hope I won't fail!! I felt the exam today was alright, it wasn't that easy but kinda manageable. The case was on CSR and I was trying to bullshit my way through even though I had no concrete examples. My ang moh friends said "It was really easy!" -.-

I noticed a difference between Caucasians and Asians - my personal experience at cultural differences! After an exam, if the exam wasn't too difficult, Asians typically have reactions such as "Oh it's alright..." or "Well it's manageable..." or "It was a little difficult, I'm not sure how I did...", whereas Caucasians typically say "I thought it was really easy!" or "Yeah it was great! I didn't expect it to be so easy!" or "I really liked that question on blah blah blah!"

For that matter, I don't think I'd ever like any exam question, or ever think any exam will be REALLY easy. Anyway, sitting through 4 hour exams is plain torturous! And I've done it twice this week...

The exam location was kinda weird. I think CBS doesn’t have a location big enough to function as an exam hall, so we had to go to Valby Badminton Hall for our exam. It's really ulu and rather far from where I stay. Exam regulations were not very strict; we had to surrender our mobile phones, but that's all. We could have our bags with us, but that's probably because they were open-book exam. Open-book exam means that we could use our laptops as well, just without Internet connection.

Ideally we should print our answers, but to do so we've got to bring our OWN printer. Which exchange student would have a printer! Well I know some of my friends do, but I don't. So I resort to 4 hours of writing, something which we Singaporeans have been trained to do since young. Still my hands are about to break after 4 hours of writing! Writing is really hard! We got to write on carbon paper, and we need to press hard so that it prints on the several copies behind. After the exam, we got to submit 2 copies in an envelope and keep the rest for ourselves.

The school employs old retired uncles and aunties to invigilate. It was really kind relaxed. We couldn't talk, obviously, but we can just stand up and walk to the toilet. We can even have food with us; I packed a sandwich - 4 hours is simply too long a time not to get hungry! Some of us even joked that we are going to bring a beer during our last exam, since beer is a very Danish thing!

Well, I'm not really supposed to be blogging right now since I've still got an exam tomorrow. I've been cramming like mad all week, stuffing a whole semester's worth of work and information within 2 days for each module. It's crazy!! I was doing 95% of my readings for the first time! Shows how little I've read over the last 3 or 4 months! I was staying up late - takes quite a bit of effort as I've gotten to be so lazy and sleepy - until I realised that the colour of the sky at 9:30pm is the same as that at 3:45am! And the colour is not black! Yeah sunrise is around 3:45am!

Ok I must really get back to my readings, as much as I hate to do so... I shall continue with why I'm suddenly overwhelmed by so many things to do, in the next post... Wish me luck, I need it!

OMG!!!!! I was studying and I was bored, so I started surfing websites randomly... and I found out that...

BOND IS BACK!!!!!! OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG!!!!!

They have been commissioned by Peugeot to write a new arrangement of the piece "Four Seasons" by Vivaldi. This is in line with the launch of Peugeot 308CC, a convertible that is suited for all seasons!

And they are back with a HUGE shock for me!!!!

Apparently, Haylie is no longer with bond as she has recently given birth and will be caring for her baby for the time being. And joining the bond quartet is violinist Elspeth Hanson. I can't believe that she's gonna play first violin!!! OMG!!!

I'm so sad that Haylie's gone!!!! I hope she comes back soon!!!!!!!!!!

How annoying! I'm supposed to study today. I've got 3 exams next week, and I've did next to nothing. And I skipped almost all the lessons for these modules.

But there's no motivation to study!! I've been doing stuff all day, that doesn't involve studying!! Even doing laundry and washing dishes are more fun than studying... arghhh I NEED to study!!!!! Time is running out!!!

The notes are so annoying too! Instead of concentrating on content, I found myself tweaking the alignment of the powerpoint slides and correcting spelling errors. I think professors should upload perfect-looking and error-free slides, not unreadable ones like these.

But it seems like no one else is very bothered by this, except me. Perhaps this should teach me to stop being so anal. Haha!

Took a walk today; I was pretty reluctant, but if not for the fact that I do not have much time left in Copenhagen, I would not have done so.

First we walked down Strøget, and I was desperately trying to look for a cap. I didn't really like any of them and Vivian kept telling me that I need to "fight the fire first", either that or I have to suck it up for one month...!!!

We went to the Nationalmuseet; it was free entry. I kinda liked Stories of Denmark; it contained exhibits telling us of stories of people in Denmark and their lifestyles, from past to present.

Lunch was a "Danish hotdog with everything". We got it from a hotdog stand in front of the city hall. I think "everything" includes ketchup, remoulade, mustard, mayo, fried onion, onion & pickles. It was so yummy!!!

To console myself about my ugly hair, I bought a HUGE three-sccop ice cream cone from Paradis. Paradis is an ice cream shop that is said to have one of the best ice creams around. Yummy!!

I was complaining to HQ about my hair, telling her about last night... she laughed and said: "it's a once in a lifetime experience, like cannot go to the country but still look like them. speaking of which, i heard north koreans look like they r stuck in the 60s, tt explains the fringe..."

Then I went to Google North Korean hair. I found these 2 sites. Trust me, it's funny!

Reactions? Mostly over dinner...

Ana: Ooooh!! AhhhhH!

Jenia: Oh! Nice haircut!
Royston: Are you serious!
Jenia: You don't like it? Don't worry, your hair grows so quickly anyway!!

Seth: Nice haircut!
Royston: Are you serious!
Seth: You don't like it?
Royston: Nah...
Seth: Too short?
Royston: Yeah...
Seth: Yeah... they never listen. When I had my haircut, and I told them to even the sides etc. they didn't listen...

Annie: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
Royston: Stop laughing!
Annie: *giggles* & HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
Annie: Now you look younger then ever!! You look sevenTEEN!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Vivien: *almost burst out laughing*
Royston: Don't laugh!
Vivien: I'm not! *giggles* hahahahaha!!!

Vivian: *gives an idiotic your-hair-is-ugly grin* I'm already trying to be nice!
Vivian: I bet Ah Tat is going to have the time of his life for the next few weeks. The next time you say something mean to him, he'll just tell you how ugly your hair is!
Vivian: It looks like a dog!

Dinner was centred mostly around one topic - my hair. It was the joke of the night! I entertained everyone! Well I was telling them the story about how my hairdresser had to raise her hand to check with the teacher, and how the teacher treated my head like a mannequin, and all I could hear was: "HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!" (mostly from Annie, and Vivien). I was making a new dish today, and I got excited and turned to tell Vivian something, and...

Vivian: WOAH!!! You really shouldn't show so much expression on your face! It gets worse!!

Vivian: You want my conditioner? Conditioner makes the hair grows faster!!! *grins*

Vivien: I can give you my volume-maximising shampoo!!

Vivian: I bet you won't take pictures in Norway now.

Vivian: Wear a beanie!
Royston: It's spring!
Annie: Yeah! Nobody wears a beanie in spring!
Vivian: Sean, I think you should lend Royston your bandana now.
Sean: HAHAHAHA!!
Vivian: You should just go online and find a cool way to wrap a scarf around your head.

But this was the best...

Royston: She (my hairdresser) told me her boyfriend's from North Korea.
Vivian: What?! North Korea!!
Annie: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAA!!!
Vivien: North Korea?!! BUAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Now you can say you have North Korean hair!!
Royston: Oh stop laughing!! When she told me that, I was like "North Korea" and she was like "Yeah... your hair and his hair feels the same..."
Vivian: Yes I'm sure it's North Korean hair! No wonder it looks like that! It's North Korean!!
Vivien: Well at least you got something unique!! And I thought going to Russia was special; having North Korean hair is way more special!! Hahahaha!!!
Annie: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! *she's laughing uncontrollably*
Vivien: It's almost next to impossible to get a North Korean hairstyle!! Now I know how does North Korean hair looks like!
Vivian: You know I'm gonna Google North Korean hair later, I'm sure it looks just like that!!
Annie: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

Well yeah... imagine that, with simultaneous laughter and giggles and trying to stiffle laughter, without much success. There's more...

After dinner, Vivian and I were chatting...

Royston: *talking about some stupid and nonsensical stuff*
Vivian: You know, I swear it's the North Korean hair that's making you say all these!
Seth (who happened to walk past behind me): HAHA!!
Royston: *shows the middle finger*
Vivian: Your North Korean hair served its purpose. It actually bonded our whole level together!! *burst out laughing*

And as I'm walking back...

Vivian: Ah ne ha se yo! Kam sa ha mi das!!
Royston: *points 2 middle fingers*
Vivian: *bursts out laughing*

And no, I'm not posting photos!

I had my most terrible day in Europe, ever! Finally went for a haircut. I'm sure you can guess the outcome...

Hairdressing isn't cheap over here; a simple hair cut can cost around SGD 100. So I went for a cheaper alternative - to the hairdressing school. At this place, a haircut costs SGD 13, which is the cheapest I can find. It was actually recommended by the university and several of my friends had their haircut here.

I REALLY regretted my decision!! To save that 87 bucks, I went to some place where I was humiliated and they destroyed my hair!!! ARGHHHH!!!!

Well I won't consider SGD 13 cheap, because you are paying to be a model, and they get students to cut your hair. So that's 13 bucks to be a guinea pig. When the student assigned to me started cutting my hair, I was horrified because she looks like she's cutting beansprouts! And she had to raise her hand to ask the teacher some questions (of course I didn't know what she asked as it was in Danish).

After a while, I started to relax. I felt even better when she told me her boyfriend is Korean and my hair texture is the same as his. Well at least this girl had experience with Asian hair! Actually, she is quite nice, and when she actually ruffled my hair, it looked somewhat acceptable and maybe a tiny bit nice. But then she consulted the old ah pek teacher, and he started saying stuff in Danish, and then she continued to cut my hair, and that's it. It became so ugly! I was relieving the worst of all my hairstyle nightmares!!! It's all the fault of that teacher!!!!

And when the teacher came by, he was tilting and turning my head, as if it were some mannequin (students without human models were using mannequins in the class) and not a human head. That was incredibly rude!! But I can't say anything nasty, less he decides to give me a terrible haircut.

The whole ordeal ended with the teacher snipping away some parts, making my hair even uglier, and now, I'm so devastated that I have no mood for Norway. All the photos are gonna turn out ugly anyway!!!

I want my stylists!!! I want Jaron or Fion!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I swear, I'll NEVER subject myself to this sort of torment again!! Serves me right for being such a cheapo... As soon as my hair grows longer, I'm gonna get it fixed in a proper salon!!!

Meanwhile, I need a cap badly...
